1Kamti Be'ashmoretקַֽמְתִּי בְּאַשְׁמֹֽרֶת
Some have the custom to recite this piyyut before "Ashrei," composed by Rabbi Moshe ibn Ezra, of blessed memory.
I arose in the night watch, to seek forgiveness for my iniquity. And my soul is darkened, because of my abundant willful sins. Have mercy on Your congregation, the flock of Your pasture. Praiseworthy are those who dwell in Your House; they will ever praise You, Selah.
Kametiy beashemoret, levakesh al avoniy. Venafeshiy shecharechoret, mipeney rov zedoniy: Rachem al adatekha, tzon mareiytekha. Asherey yoshevey veytekha, od yehalelukha selah:
From the throne of Your glorious splendor, shine upon the treasured people. Return the captivity of Your holy ones, and grace as of old Your treasured ones. Display Your wonders of kindness, and build the city of praise. Praiseworthy are those who dwell in Your House; they will ever praise You, Selah.
Praiseworthy are those who dwell in Your House; they will ever praise You, Selah. Praiseworthy is the people for whom this is so; praiseworthy is the people whose God is the Lord.
Asherey yoshevey veytekha od yehalelukha selah: Asherey haam shekakhah lo asherey haam sheadonai elohayv:
A psalm of David. I will exalt You, my God the King, and bless Your Name forever. Every day I will bless You and praise Your Name forever. Great is the Lord and exceedingly praised; His greatness is beyond investigation. Each generation will praise Your works to the next, and declare Your mighty acts. The splendor of Your glorious majesty, and Your wondrous deeds I will speak of. They will tell of Your awesome power, and Your greatness I will recount. They will pour forth the fame of Your abundant goodness, and sing of Your righteousness. Gracious and merciful is the Lord, slow to anger and great in kindness. The Lord is good to all, and His mercy is upon all His works. All Your works shall thank You, Lord, and Your pious ones shall bless You. They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom and tell of Your might, to make known to people His mighty acts, and the glorious splendor of His kingdom. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion is throughout all generations. The Lord supports all who fall and straightens all who are bent. The eyes of all look hopefully to You, and You give them their food in its proper time. You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. The Lord is righteous in all His ways and kind in all His deeds. The Lord is close to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear Him; He hears their cry and saves them. The Lord guards all who love Him, and all the wicked He will destroy. My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord; let all flesh bless His holy Name forever.
It is customary to recite the Half Kaddish:
May His great Name be exalted and sanctified in the world He created according to His will. May He establish His kingdom, cause His salvation to sprout, and bring near His anointed, in your lifetime and in your days, speedily and soon; and say Amen. May His great Name be blessed forever and ever. Blessed, praised, glorified, exalted, extolled, honored, elevated, and lauded be the Name of the Holy One, blessed is He, above all blessings, songs, praises, and consolations uttered in the world; and say Amen.
O son of man, why do you slumber? Arise, call out in supplication. Pour forth your words, seek forgiveness from the Lord of lords. Wash and purify yourself, and do not delay, before the days turn away. And hurry, run for help, before Him who dwells on high. And from transgression and wickedness, flee. O please, heed those who know Your Name, Israel the faithful. Yours, O Lord, is the righteousness, and ours the shame.
Stand like a man and be strong, to confess your sins. O God, seek earnestly, with gravity. For nothing is ever hidden from Him; every word spoken is read before Him. The Merciful One, He will have mercy upon us, as a father has mercy upon children. Yours, O Lord, is the righteousness, and ours the shame.
Lekha Adonai hatzedakah, velanu boshet hapaniym.
What can we say before You who dwells on high? And what can we tell before You who abides in the heavens? Do You not know all things, hidden and revealed?
Some have the custom to recite this piyyut during the Ten Days of Repentance, composed by Rabbi David ibn Bakuda, of blessed memory. This is the custom of those from Babylonia, Damascus, and Morocco. The custom of those from Aleppo is to recite it throughout all the days of Selichot, and this is also the custom of Maran the Rishon LeTzion, may he live long.
For Your sake, my God, and not for our sake; see, we stand before You destitute, without deeds or righteousness. What shall we say before You who dwells on high? And what shall we tell You who abides in the heavens? Do You not know all that is hidden and revealed?
Lemaanekha Elohai, retzeh am lekha shichar. Lechalot paneykha, bemaamad hashachar. Adonay hakeshiyvah vaaseh, al teachar.
For Your sake, my God, draw up from the depths of the sea those sated with bitterness and wormwood, in the house of their wandering and captivity. And look upon their oppression and their affliction, and do not turn to their rebellion. And incline Your ear to their cry, in the dawn prayer. O Lord, heed and act, do not delay.
For Your sake, my God, perform a sign for good. And grace afflicted souls, thirsting for waters of salvation. And gather the dispersed, scattered in every direction, whose skin has darkened from the abundance of troubles. O Lord, heed and act, do not delay.
For Your sake, my God, let Your mercies be stirred. And from the dwelling of Your heavens, hear the voice of Your people. Those who bear Your anger, Your wrath, and Your fury; and from bearing Your terror, their hearts are deeply anguished. O Lord, heed and act, do not delay.
For Your sake, my God, have mercy upon Your lowly ones. And gladden them from their sorrow, and with Your counsel comfort them. And display Your wondrous kindness, and have pity and mercy. Those borne from the womb, and from the earliest dawn. O Lord, heed and act, do not delay.
O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, heed and act, do not delay! For Your own sake, my God, for Your Name is called upon Your city and upon Your people.
The Thirteen Attributes of Mercy (י״ג מידות) are recited aloud by the congregation together.
6Shevet Yehuda
It is customary to stand for "Shevet Yehuda."
The tribe of Judah is in distress and anguish; does a lion roar in the forest without prey? Parents and children await Your salvation, the poor and the destitute. Stand in the breach lest we become a mockery. Why, O Lord, do You stand afar? Your dove has reached the gates of death; O You who sits upon the Cherubim, appear! Grant us strength and courage; O our Rock, have mercy and bring our deliverance near.
The Thirteen Attributes of Mercy (י״ג מידות) are recited aloud by the congregation together.
God, King, who sits upon a throne of mercy, and acts with loving-kindness, forgiving the iniquities of His people, removing them one by one. Increasing forgiveness for sinners and pardon for transgressors. Dealing righteously with all flesh and spirit; not according to their evil does He requite them. God, You have taught us to recite the thirteen attributes; remember for us today the covenant of the thirteen attributes, as You made known of old to the humble one, and so it is written in Your Torah: And the Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed by the Name of the Lord. And there it is said:
And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed: The Lord, the Lord, God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in kindness and truth. Preserving kindness for thousands of generations, forgiving iniquity, transgression, and sin, and He cleanses.
And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed: The Lord, the Lord, God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in kindness and truth. Preserving kindness for thousands of generations, forgiving iniquity, transgression, and sin, and He cleanses.
Men of faith have perished, who came with the strength of their deeds. Warriors who stood in the breach and turned away evil decrees. They were for us a wall and a shelter in the day of fury. They quenched anger with their whispers and restrained wrath with their prayers.

We are astonished by evils; our strength has been sapped by troubles. We have bowed down exceedingly; we have been brought low to the dust. O Merciful One, such is our nature; stiff-necked and rebellious are we. We cried out that we have sinned, but our hearts are crooked. O Most High, Your mercies are eternal; forgiveness is with You. Let Your staff of kindness prevail.

We are ashamed of our deeds and humiliated by our iniquities. We have no mouth to respond and no forehead to lift our face. What shall we say, O Lord our God? What shall we speak, and how shall we justify ourselves? Let us search our ways and examine them, and return to You, for Your right hand is outstretched to receive those who return.
Our God and God of our fathers: Do not make an end of us; let Your hand grasp judgment. When rebuke comes before You, do not blot our name from Your book. When You approach to examine chastisement, let Your mercies precede Your wrath. When You behold the paucity of our deeds, bring near righteousness from Yourself. Guide us, when we cry out to You; command our salvation through an intercessor. And restore the captivity of the tents of the upright; see that its openings lie desolate. Remember what You declared: a testimony that shall not be forgotten from the mouth of his seed. Loose the sealed testimony; set Your secret among those who learn of You. The navel of the moon-shaped bowl—pray, let not the mixture be lacking. Yah, take note of Israel who have known You; cast down the nations that have not known You. For You will restore to the stronghold the captives, prisoners of hope.

Please, O Lord our God and God of our fathers, may our prayer come before You. Do not hide from our supplication, for we are not so brazen as to say we are righteous and have not sinned. Indeed, we and our ancestors have sinned.
My sin I make known to You, and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said: I will confess my transgressions to the Lord, and You forgave the guilt of my sin.
We have been guilty. We have eaten forbidden foods. We have betrayed. We have neglected Your Torah days and nights. We have robbed. We have stolen. We have been arrogant. We have spoken defamation and evil speech. We have spoken one thing with the mouth and another in the heart. We have caused perversion. We have entertained evil thoughts. And we have acted wickedly. And we have multiplied crime and wickedness without limit. And we have appointed ourselves toward a matter of transgression. We have been presumptuous. We have gone astray after our heart and our eyes. We have done violence. We have coveted. We have desecrated Sabbaths and Your holy festivals. We have patched on falsehood and deceit. We have counseled evil counsels beyond searching. We have lied. We have been angry. We have mocked. We have scoffed. We have rebelled. We have defied Your words. We have rebelled against the kingdom of heaven; we have rebelled against the kingdom of the house of David; we have rejected the Temple—and all three of them we seek. We have reviled. We have committed adultery. We have sworn in vain and falsely. We have vowed and not paid. We have been wayward. We have been rebellious and defiant. We have committed iniquity. We have transgressed positive commandments and negative commandments. We have transgressed sins of excision and death penalties of the court. We have transgressed desecration of the Name. We have willfully sinned. We have blemished the sign of the holy covenant. We have oppressed. We have distressed father and mother, parents and teachers. We have been stiff-necked. We have damaged the channels of abundance. We have acted wickedly. We have been evil toward heaven and toward creatures. We have corrupted. We have lied. We have wasted holy seed in vain; we have abominated. We have gone astray and have led others astray. And we have turned aside from Your commandments and from Your good ordinances, and it has not availed us; and You are righteous concerning all that has come upon us, for You have acted truthfully, and we have acted wickedly.
We are more guilty than any people; we are more ashamed than any nation. Joy has gone forth from us; our heart is faint in our sins. Our desire has been ruined, and our glory has been stripped away. The abode of our Sanctuary is desolate through our iniquities. Our citadel has become a waste; the beauty of our land is for strangers, our strength for foreigners. Before our eyes they have oppressed our toil, scraped and peeled away from us. They have set their yoke upon us; we have borne it upon our shoulder. Servants have ruled over us; there is none to redeem from their hand. Many troubles have surrounded us; we have called to You, O Lord our God. You have withdrawn from us through our iniquities; we have turned away from following You; we have strayed like sheep and are lost. And still we have not returned from our wandering.
In the following verses, the leader declares each heavenly proclamation and the congregation responds with "יְהֹוָה הוּא הָֽאֱלֹהִים" — "The Lord, He is God."
The angels on high declare: the Lord is our Master. The chosen treasured ones respond and say: the Lord is our God.
Ereeley maelah omeriym Adonai adonenu. Bechiyrey segulah oniym veomeriym Adonai hu haelohiym. Adonai hu haelohiym:
Before the heavens and the earth were stretched out, the Lord was King. And before the luminaries shone, the Lord was King. And when all shall end, the Lord shall reign. The Lord was King, the Lord is King, the Lord shall reign forever and ever.
And before He made the earth and its open places, the Lord was King. And when He established creatures upon the earth, the Lord was King. The Lord was King, the Lord is King, the Lord shall reign forever and ever.
He is unique in 'I Am that I Am.' He was, He is, and He shall be. He puts to death and gives life; He brings low and also lifts up. The Lord was King, the Lord is King, the Lord shall reign forever and ever.
Act for the holiness of Your Name, and not for us. Not for us, O Lord, not for us, but for Your Name give glory, for Your kindness and for Your truth. Why should the nations say, Where now is their God? But our God is in the heavens. One is our God in the heavens. Our testimony twice every day. He is living and enduring; He is full of mercies; He is full of merits. Whatever He has desired He has done in heaven and on earth; there is none who may say to Him, What are You doing? and none who may say to Him, What are You accomplishing? for all is the work of His hands.

Our God in heaven, perform a sign for good with us, a sign for salvation Amen and mercy. Amen May our foes see and be ashamed, Amen may our enemies behold and be humiliated, Amen for You, O Lord, have helped us and comforted us.

Some have the custom to recite this piyyut as an introduction to "Anenu." This is the custom of those from Babylonia and Aleppo, but the custom of Maran the Rishon LeTzion, may he live long, is not to recite it. This is also the custom of those from Morocco and Jerusalem.
O God, You know my folly and my guilts; from You none of my willful sins are hidden. When I bring to heart the greatness of my backslidings, I am poured out like water and all my bones are out of joint; hearken to the voice of my supplications. In wrath, remember mercy for him who knocks at the gates of Your compassion, who stands like a pauper begging, seeking Your forgiveness. My eyes forestalled the night watches to recount Your greatness; I will declare Your arm to a generation, Your might to all that will come. Unveil my eyes that I may behold wonders from Your Torah; let those who await the end of wonders sing to Your Name; restore to their dwelling those scattered in every corner, for You are the Lord, God of hosts. God of hosts, restore us; answer us with awesome deeds in righteousness; look upon the face of Your anointed and see our shield; and let all who take refuge in You rejoice, forever sing for joy. Answer us, our Father, answer us.
When reciting "Anenu" (Answer us), one must be very careful not to stress the letter nun, lest it sound like the word for affliction, God forbid.

During the Ten Days of Repentance, the custom of those from Babylonia is to add this supplication, based on passages from the Heikhalot of Rabbi Yishmael.
Act for the sake of Your holy and pure angels who minister before You, who seek mercy for Israel Your people. There is a company above called annulers of decree, voiders of oath, removers of jealousy, turners-back of wrath, reminders of love—the love of Abraham our father—before their Creator. When they see that He is angry with His children, they prostrate themselves before the throne of His glory, and entreat and say: Release, release, O Fashioner of the beginning; forgive, forgive, O Mighty One of Jacob; pardon, pardon, O Holy One of Israel—for You are majestic among kings. King majestic, King blessed, King great, King distinguished, King glorious, King ancient, King pure, King gracious, King clean, King upright, King mighty, King forever, King who has compassion, King awesome, King who supports, King who helps, King who redeems, King righteous, King clear, King near, King exalted, King who guards, King whole. Why enmity for You with the seed of Abraham who loves You? Why jealousy for You with the seed of Isaac, Your binding? Why rivalry for You with the seed of Jacob, Your sincere one?—for You have called them the possession of heaven and earth. At once horns of splendor go forth from beneath the Throne of Glory and proclaim and say: Happy are you who teach merit concerning My children; praise to you who draw down the merit of the fathers— for all the host of heaven and earth will give you glory and greatness.
He who answers the poor, answer us. He who answers the oppressed, answer us. He who answers the brokenhearted, answer us. He who answers the lowly in spirit, answer us. He who answers the humble in spirit, answer us. He who answered Abraham our father on Mount Moriah, answer us. He who answered Isaac upon the altar, answer us. He who answered Jacob in Bethel, answer us. He who answered our ancestors at the Sea of Reeds, answer us. He who answered Moses at Horeb, answer us. He who answered Aaron with the incense, answer us. He who answered Elijah on Mount Carmel, answer us. He who answered Jonah in the belly of the fish, answer us. He who answered Daniel in the lions' den, answer us. He who answered Mordechai and Esther in Shushan, answer us. He who answers the righteous and the pious, answer us. O God of mercy, answer us.
During the Ten Days of Repentance, it is customary to recite this piyyut. Those from Aleppo did not have this custom.
O God, hear Your needy ones, who beseech Your countenance. Our Father, for Your children, do not hide Your ears.
Yah shema eveyoneykha, hamechaliym paneykha. Aviynu levaneykha, al taelem azeneykha.
Their wrongs and their iniquity, erase, and their many willful sins. And if You will not act for their sake, act, O my Rock, for the sake of Your Name.
And erase this day their debt, and accept their words as a gift. And prepare their hearts for You, and incline Your ear. Hearken to their cry and turn to their prayer.
A piyyut by Rabbi Ephraim son of Rabbi Yitzchak of Regensburg (its acrostic spells "Ephraim bar Rav Yitzchak chazak").
If the nest is depleted, if the tent of the Presence is emptied, please let us not be lost, for we have an aged Father.
Im afes rova haken, ohel shiken im riken, al-na novedah kiy al ken, yesh-lanu av zaken.
He ran to the youth to sanctify him, and his soul was bound to his soul. He adorned him with wood and fire; a crown of glory and splendor was upon his head.
Ratz el hanaar lehakediysho, venafesho keshurah venafesho, itero vaetziym veisho, nezer elohayv al rosho.
The only son was light as a gazelle. He answered and said: 'My father, here is the fire and the wood we bring, but where is the lamb for the offering?'
Words he answered so as not to alarm him, and he replied to him: 'My son, God will provide for Himself.' And He made known that the Lord our God is a consuming fire.
He stretched forth his neck of his own will, and his father drew near to him to slaughter him for the sake of his Master. And behold, the Lord appeared and called from heaven.
Examine all that he did: the father did not spare his son, and his heart he lifted to heaven. And he saw, and behold, a ram caught in the thicket by its horns.

In place of his memorial offering, it shall be established as his incense, and its smoke shall ascend to You. And it shall be he and his substitute, both holy to the Lord.

The custom of Maran the Rishon LeTzion, may he live long, is not to recite these piyyutim, but to proceed directly to "Rachum VeChanun." This is also the custom of those from Babylonia. Those from Aleppo recite "Lemitvaddeh," then "Chatzot Laylah" (the final section of "Bezochri"). Those from Morocco recite only "Bezochri."
When I remember upon my bed, the willful sins of my heart. I rise and come to the house of my God. And I say as I lift my eyes: Let us fall into the hand of the Lord, for His mercies are great.
Bezakheriy al mishekaviy, zedon libiy vaashamayv. Akumah veavoah, el beyt Elohai vahadomayv. Vaomar benaseiy ain, betachanunay eley shamayv. Nipelah na veyad Adonai kiy rabiym rachamayv.
To You, my God, Rock of my strength, my refuge in distress. In You is my hope and my trust. Let us fall into the hand of the Lord, for His mercies are great.
Answer me, O Lord, answer me, when I call from the straits. Let it be known among the peoples that Your hand is not too short to save. Let us fall into the hand of the Lord, for His mercies are great.
Aneniy Adonai aneniy, bekareiy min hametzar. Veivada baamiym, kiy yadekha lo tiketzar. Veal tivezeh enut aniy, tzoek mitigerat tzar. Asher peshaayv lekha modeh, umitevadeh al alumayv. Nipelah na veyad Adonai kiy rabiym rachamayv.
Why should a man complain and say, why should he speak and justify himself? A creature of clay, whose body shall return to dust. What is his advantage and what is his gain? Let us fall into the hand of the Lord, for His mercies are great.
At midnight they arose for You, Your servants in their praise. The merit of the fathers, remember for them, and do not turn to their wickedness. Let us fall into the hand of the Lord, for His mercies are great.
Of David: To You, O Lord, I lift my soul. My God, in You I trust; let me not be put to shame. Indeed, none who hope in You shall be ashamed; those who deal treacherously shall be shamed. Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths. Guide me in Your truth and teach me. Remember Your mercies, O Lord, and Your kindnesses, for they are eternal. Do not remember the sins of my youth. Good and upright is the Lord; therefore He instructs sinners in the way. Who is the man who fears the Lord? He will instruct him in the way. Turn to me and be gracious to me. See my affliction and forgive all my sins. Guard my soul and rescue me; let me not be put to shame. Redeem Israel, O God, from all its troubles.
The custom of Maran the Rishon LeTzion, may he live long, is to continue with "Atanu Lechalot Panekha." This is also the custom of those from Babylonia. Some have the custom to recite daily supplications, each corresponding to a day of the week, composed by the great sages of the generations. This is the custom of those from Aleppo, Damascus, and Morocco.
Supplication for Sunday (acrostic: Shmuel chazak).
O Lord, hearken to the cry of Your people, and perform with us a sign for good; and who is like Your people Israel, a unique nation. Deliver them from between the teeth of lions, and gather them from the four winds, and bring them near, one to another. And comfort the mourners of Zion, and have mercy on wandering Oholibah, to join the tent that it may be one. Edom and Moab have thirsted in the pit for my life; with disgrace they have struck my cheeks, one from this side and one from that. At my feet they have hidden snare and pitfall, and they have whispered against me together; there is none who does good, not even one. Strengthen Your people, O Dweller of the heavens of the earth, and may Your enemies be for destruction and ruin; and the Lord shall be King over all the earth; on that day the Lord shall be one and His Name one.
Supplication for Monday (acrostic: Yehuda chazak).
O Lord, Unique One who searches the hearts of all humankind, who does great things beyond searching—and there was evening and there was morning, a second day. Attend to the speech of Your servant and his utterance, who bears exile upon his shoulder, and on the day of his falling, raise him up; there is One and there is no second. And remember the covenant of Your beloved ones, for a people crying out before You, the children of Jacob Your servants—and He commanded also the second. My Beloved, attend to the supplications, and reckon their prayers as portions, by the merit of those who offer offerings—Nethanel son of Zuar on the second day. Incline Your ear to the prayer of Your people, and send us the anointed of Your righteousness, that we may offer offerings before You—one lamb in the morning and the second lamb. Strengthen my heart, my King, and hasten to illuminate my darkness; if my way is hidden, prosper, pray, Your servant on the second day.
Supplication for Tuesday (acrostic: David bar Elazar).
O Lord, my eyes grow faint looking upward; in my distress I call, O Lord. And my spirit is overwhelmed within me from the abundance of my anger and my complaint, and I pour out my soul before the Lord. Yah, attend to my utterance, and perform a sign for good with me; many things have You done, You, O Lord. I am brought low, and He will save me—righteous God and Savior; for Your salvation I have hoped, O Lord. When my enemies rise against me, my heart shall not fear, and I have trusted in You, O Lord. My hand is raised in You, my stronghold, and not by my sword—for not by sword and spear does the Lord save. My enemies have prevailed, and they have vaunted themselves over me; will You restrain Yourself over these, O Lord? Why do You hide Your face, that the enemy should crown himself over me, O jealous and avenging God, O Lord? I will set counsels in my soul, and with my heart I will murmur: Will the Lord cast off forever? The arrogant contend with me; my thoughts answer me back—for the Lord will not cast off forever. I have hoped for Your mercies, for in You, O Lord, I have waited; You will answer, O Lord my God.
Supplication for Wednesday (acrostic: Ani David katan).
O Lord, if my iniquity is too great to bear, and I have acted foolishly, do not enter into judgment with Your servant. Purify the afflictions of my heart, and pass over the sins of my youth; also restrain Your servant from the willful. My sorrows have prevailed, and my sighs have broken my heart; gladden the soul of Your servant. Those who seek my harm have magnified themselves against me; they rejoice at my ruin—do not hide Your face from Your servant. And how long shall I cry out with no judgment? When will You execute judgment upon my pursuers? How many are the days of Your servant? Let Your anger turn to have mercy upon me; let Your kindness be, pray, to comfort me, according to Your word to Your servant. I have recounted my ways, and upon You from the womb I have leaned; let Your face shine upon Your servant. I am too small for all the kindnesses, O Rock who settles the solitary, which You have done with Your servant. Cleanse me from my sin; do not hide Your ear from my relief, from my cry—pray, O Lord, for I am Your servant. Show me wonders; do not hide Your face from me; do not turn aside in anger against Your servant.

Supplication for Thursday (acrostic: Shmuel).
O Lord, heed the wanderer from his nest, and awaken the sleep of his eye—and he arose at midnight. Because of the shame of his guilt, his tear has become for him bread by day and by night. And it was, in his captivity, that he was driven about, and from mountain to hill he was pursued—by heat by day and by frost by night. Enemies oppress me, and against me they take counsel, and they conspire all the night. Let my prayer come before You, O Lord, God of my salvation; by day I have cried out in the night.
Supplication for Friday (acrostic: Avraham).
O Lord God, who settles the solitary, heed those who stand in the house of the Lord by nights. In You I have trusted, and Your Name I have remembered upon my bed by nights. Have mercy on him who goes and weeps, a man with his sword upon his thigh, from fear by nights. Behold, I go bowed down; I have found no rest, days as well as nights. Deliver him who cries out before You, to declare Your kindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness by nights.
Do not be exceedingly angry, O Lord, and do not remember iniquity forever. Look, please — we are all Your people. Do not despise us for Your Name’s sake; do not disgrace the throne of Your glory. Remember, do not annul Your covenant with us. If our iniquities testify against us, O Lord, act for Your Name’s sake. For our backslidings have multiplied — we have sinned against You. Master, forgive us.
If we have been guilty, reddened like crimson, O Lord, send forth the abundance of Your mercies first, for the sake of the father saved from the Chaldeans, whose might was in the Valley of Siddim. Remember his love today for us, for our backslidings have multiplied — we have sinned against You; Master, forgive us.
Im ashamenu katola heediym, Adonai et hamon rachameykha takediym, lemaan av mutzal mikasediym, gibareto beemek hasidiym. Ahavato zekhor hayom lanu, kiy rabu meshuvoteynu lekha chatanu, adon selach lanu.
If we have sinned and multiplied willful rebellion, O Lord, reveal to us a time of favor, for the sake of the distinguished one who was bound like a sheep, and a ram was set as his atonement for favor. Remember his binding today for us, for our backslidings have multiplied — we have sinned against You; Master, forgive us.
If we have multiplied crime and transgression, O Lord, be favorable through our prayer, for the sake of the wholehearted one who beheld a ladder and was afraid, and lodged in the place that is awesome. Remember his integrity today for us, for our backslidings have multiplied — we have sinned against You; Master, forgive us.
We have come to beseech Your countenance, for kindness and truth go before Your face. Please do not put us to shame; do not send us away empty. Forgive us and send us salvation and mercy from Your dwelling.
Atanu lechalot paneykha, kiy chesed veemet yekademu faneykha. Selach lanu, ushelach lanu, yeshuah verachamiym mimeonekha.
Our Master in heaven, to You we supplicate as a captive supplicates his master. All the captives cry from the depths of their captivity. Hear the voice of their prayers and redeem them from their bondage.
You who are appeased by mercy and conciliated by supplication, be appeased to an afflicted generation, for there is no other help. Our Father, our King, be gracious to us and answer us; deal with us in charity and kindness, and save us.
He strikes and He heals; He brings death and gives life; He raises from the grave to eternal life. When a son sins, his father punishes him; the father who has compassion heals his pain. A servant who rebels is put in chains; when he returns to his master, the chains are broken. We are Your children and we have sinned before You. Return us to You, O Lord, and we shall return; renew our days as of old.

The custom of Maran the Rishon LeTzion, may he live long, is to combine the following two passages into one, saying: "Simple mercies and a good life we have sought and requested from You, for abundant are Your mercies and the source of life is with You; perform righteousness and kindness with us," etc.
Simple mercies we have sought from You, for many mercies are with You; act with us in righteousness and kindness for the sake of Your Name. Pray, O Lord our God and God of our fathers, remove from us and from our houses, and from the houses of all Your people the house of Israel wherever they are: pestilence, and sword, and evil, and famine, and captivity, and plunder, and destruction, and plague, and the Adversary, and the evil inclination, and evil diseases, and distress—from us and from Your people.
A good life we have asked of You, for the source of life is with You; act with us in righteousness and kindness for the sake of Your Name.
Our Father, our King, You are our Father. Our Father, our King, we have no King but You. Our Father, our King, have mercy upon us. Our Father, our King, be gracious to us and answer us, for we have no deeds; act with us in righteousness and kindness for the sake of Your great Name, and save us. Guardian of a unique nation, guard the remnant of the unique nation, and let not the unique nation perish, who declare: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One.'
Guardian of a great nation, guard the remnant of the great nation, and let not the great nation perish, who declare 'Blessed be the Name of the glory of His kingdom forever and ever.'
The prayer leader recites the Kaddish "Ta'anu VeTe'atru":
May His great Name be exalted and sanctified in the world He created according to His will. May He establish His kingdom, cause His salvation to sprout, and bring near His anointed, in your lifetime and in your days, speedily and soon; and say Amen. May His great Name be blessed forever and ever. Blessed, praised, glorified, exalted, extolled, honored, elevated, and lauded be the Name of the Holy One, blessed is He, above all blessings, songs, praises, and consolations uttered in the world; and say Amen.
May you be answered and may your pleas be accepted with mercy from heaven; may your cry be received; may your prayer be heard with favor; and may the voice of your petition be answered; and may there be fulfilled in you the verse that is written: The Lord, God of your fathers, increase you a thousandfold as you are, and bless you as He has spoken to you. And so may it be His will, and let us say Amen. Amen.
A Song of Ascents. From the depths I call You, O Lord. O Lord, hear my voice; let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. If You preserved iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? For with You there is forgiveness, that You may be feared. I have hoped in the Lord; my soul has hoped, and for His word I have waited. My soul yearns for the Lord, more than watchmen for the morning. Let Israel hope in the Lord, for with the Lord there is kindness, and with Him is abundant redemption. And He will redeem Israel from all its iniquities.
The Kaddish "Yehei Shelama" is recited.
May His great Name be exalted and sanctified in the world He created according to His will. May He establish His kingdom, cause His salvation to sprout, and bring near His anointed, in your lifetime and in your days, speedily and soon; and say Amen. May His great Name be blessed forever and ever.
